to everyone who’s generalising and making assumptions. emo is a genre. or a style. or a type of music. not an emotion. not someone depressed or svic!dal. sure some are, but it’s not what defines them and it’s not what an ‘emo’ is. many ‘emos’, including myself, have mental illnesses but that’s not because of the music we like or what we listen to. it’s because of natural causes and certain bands and music labelled ‘emo’ are actually super inspirational and their stories are why people with mental illnesses like them. because they can relate to them and feel loved and supported in the communities and fanbases where they might not be supported otherwise. please stop spreading false information or saying that certain people don’t look or act ‘emo’ just because they’re happier or they don’t fit the aesthetic.
