Location: Abandoned Urbandale School (Oakley Street)
System: Calhoun County
Test time: 1st Saturday of the month at 1 PM

After Haskins, we made the drive up to Battle Creek to record this 8 RPM 5M 4/5 port Thunderbolt at the abandoned Urbandale School. This is the longest we've traveled for a siren test so far, although we have plans to go farther. We met with another enthusiast here as well. This was probably the loudest siren I've heard to date. I'd say it was at least as loud, if not a tad bit louder than the 5M 4/5 in Pierce Township, which is a bit surprising considering this one rotates 4 times faster and appears to be a bit higher mounted (if my memory serves me right). My decibel meter topped at 116.6 dBC at around 100 feet from the pole. It actually overloaded the mics on both cameras I was using, so the audio is a bit distorted at times, but hopefully that doesn't ruin the overall sound experience for you guys. Enjoy!
