What if the selvages have been removed? For example, sometimes I buy a fat quarter that doesn’t include a selvage or I have a scrap. Is there I trick to figure out the grain from the cross grain?

I have a piece of mystery fabric. The only marking is Si Bonne! on the selvage. Looks and feels like silk, but how do I figure out the fabric content?
