Kesha Opens Up About Hurting Herself Pre-Rehab Stint

Up until now she's stayed somewhat quiet on the matter, but now Kesha is beginning to open up about her rehab stay in an open essay for the UK version of Elle magazine.
The "Tik Tok" singer has penned a thoughtful piece on exactly why she was driven to check into rehab for a two month treatment earlier this year, AND all the pressures surrounding young girls, especially in the entertainment industry.
Kesha writes:
"The music industry has set unrealistic expectations for what a body is supposed to look like, and I started becoming overly critical of my own body because of that. I felt like people were always lurking, trying to take pictures of me with the intention of putting them up online or printing them in magazines and making me look terrible."
And if you listen to Kesha's music, you know she is always promoting messages of positivity and loving one's self, but confesses that she didn't always heed the advice of self-acceptance -- for herself.
"I felt like a liar, telling people to love themselves as they are, while I was being hateful to myself and really hurting my body. I wanted to control things that weren't in my power, but I was controlling the wrong things. I convinced myself that being sick, being skinny was part of my job. It felt safer somehow."
We gotta give props to her -- we're sure it's not easy to be this vulnerable and open about something like this. We certainly applaud her strength in this matter.

I'm honestly SO proud of her. She literally got famous so quick and I don't blame her for the pressure. I'm really proud of Kesha :D

It's Good for her that she is better now but let's keep it real! She does not Sing About positive & strong woman, she sings About getting drunk, party's and these kind of things! I am not HATING om her! I just feel that people making bad choices lead to things like self Harm! Don't blame it on getting famous! If that is really the problem she should choose another job! We all have insecurities and pressure, but you still choose doing self Harm yourself!

Ke$ha is an amazing person! If you watch "Rising Star" you see a totally different Ke$ha! I'm really surprised to hear that she has battled with her image . She really seams to have everything under control and knows who she is as an artist and person. I love that she always roots for the underdog!

I heard that she is writing more music and that she sounds brand new. I hope that the next time she drops a single we can hear how much she has grown in her own self.

Honestly how are people being so rude to these problems like saying its not a big deal and war or kids in Africa starving is a bigger deal. Everything is a big problem, some are more important to different people. Can't we just be glad that she didn't kill herself or anything. And as for war or kids in Africa starving it is hella important but why are you putting two different concepts together.

There's no way that what she told to the interview is the only reason of her rehab treatment. Theres way more. like drugs, hard core drugs, but it's probably too much for the "first time" opening up, she will tell more in the near future like what demi lovato did. Still very proud of her tho.
