EV6 12v charging interrupted by L2 charging

If the 12v battery gets low while the car is off, the EV6 (and Ioniq 5) will initiate a 12v charge cycle, using the high voltage battery to charge the 12v battery. When this happens, the orange light on the dash illuminates to warn that the high voltage system is engaged despite the car being turned off. As shown in a previous video, the car will also charge the 12v battery while it is plugged in charging the high voltage battery. Some people have experienced 12v battery draining IF they plug in to charge the high voltage battery WHILE the automatic vehicle off 12v charging is already in progress (orange light on). This video corroborates those experiences.

After noticing the orange light on (12v charging while vehicle is off), I started the battery monitor recording. The 12v battery is being charged at around 20A. At the 0:50 mark, I plug in the L2 charger and the 12v starts being drained at around 12A. This continues until around the 12:52 mark, when the drain drops down to around 8A. That probably correlates to around the time I unplugged the charger. Then around the 13:34 mark I got in the car (battery drain increased, likely due to the seat moving). A few seconds later I started the car, and it began charging the 12v in the 50A range.

It's worth noting that typically, after driving the car and turning it off, there is some drain in the 10A range +/-, as all the car' electronics don't shut down immediately when the car is turned off. This normally only lasts around five minutes, then some components turn off and the drain reduces to under 1A. After roughly 3hrs, the car typically goes into full sleep mode, with virtually no battery drain. Although this was a short test with only 12 minutes of L2 charging, the +/-10A drain continued during the entire charging session. If that were to continue during a more typical charging session lasting multiple hours, the battery could die, as some have reported. For the time being, it would be advisable to NOT charge the vehicle if the orange light is on. You may try turning the car on for several minutes to force a higher rate 12v charge, then turn the car off, and plug in the charger only if the orange light stays off.
