I raised our tenant's rent by $120 and I felt guilty over just that much. $500? That's insane.

There's a special place in hell for landlords like this

This landlord sudden increase is absolutely ILLEGAL. Most States if not all states would not allow this. Most States with a 30 to 60 days notice only allow 5 %. That landlord is a criminal. Talk to my lawyer

I’m a landlord. That’s not how I operate. I let leases expired and every year I notify tenants 30 days before is expired, rent will increase by 5%. Sometimes 5% can be that family grocery or any other necessity. They can either find another place or stay and pay. At the end of the day is his house and he can do what he wants, but you also take money from this people. Treat them with respect. $500 is 5% of what states Rental?

500$ is a lot. Luckily, in Germany you cannot raise the price over a vertical certain percentage. If you have to raise it by 500$ you probably did something wrong in the first place.

If your lease states the amount you agree to. The landlord can not raise the rent until the lease is up.

Same happened to us in Lehigh Valley PA. Was renting a 2bd town house for 6 years at 1095$. We got the call from our slumlord that our rent was increasing to 1595$ in 30 days (45% increase). We said no way, so we got booted, which left us scurrying to pack up our whole lives and quickly search for a new place to live.

Well after we moved out the place sat empty for 8 months before finally getting rented again. And in less than 4 months the new tenants and their dogs destroyed the place and moved out in the middle of the night, which caused the residence to sit empty even longer for repairs. KARMA ❤

This is equivalent to me buying a camera, setting it up, and calling my brother telling him to play along lmao.

Good luck paying your taxes and insurance on a vacant unit.

I’d hang up too and then look into my local tenant laws about how much rent can go up at any given time.

Here's the problem. The homeowner said he has to raise rent a little 500dollars isnt a little maybe for the homeowner 500 is little but to a regular worker in mid class 500 extra on top of the what 1, 000his paying now😂😂😂😂. 500 is a lot of extra money not a little😂😂😂😂

500 a month? fk the landlord then. hope the tenant takes him to court. If its 500 annual increase, that is fair.

It takes months to evict a tenant. Time is on the tenant’s side. A landlord like this deserves to have his rental income held up. The tenant should stay put and not pay this rent! Seek legal counsel as well
