This Hexagonal Grid Two Layer Icosahedron is made from 3855 magnets. I designed and built it freehand without the help of any pictures or tutorials- I made it using only my hands and my brain! Finishing this Icosahedron was so satisfying! It really filled me with a sense of pride when it came together and worked out perfect!
Damian O'Connor has a fantastic tutorial video on the Hexagonal Grid Two Layer Octahedron, and the principals employed in that video are pretty much the same ones I used here, but I did have to adapt the technique to account for the difference in size and shape... I gotta say it again, I'm so stoked with myself for getting this one to work!!
