sam shmidt is paralyzed. thats why he started that foundation. since wickens is his driver he will be putting money towards helping him heal

There is a new video of Robert Wickens peddling an FES Bike.
By that video it is clear that he has some serious issues with the voluntary motor functions in his legs.
He also has a large blue band keeping his legs together. Another sign of compromised motor function and control.
So yes. At this point in time Robert Wickens has at the very least some partial paralysis to his lower body.
It may not be permanent as SCIs take quite a while to heal.
It's totally conceivable that we could see him back in a race car in the future.

No. The foundation is most likely helping with costs... doesn't not mean that he is paralyzed.

The foundation is one to help find a cure for paralysis. Leigh Diffey wouldn’t know what the prognosis for Wickens would be. If anyone would it would have been Hinch and his demeanor during the weekend would have been noticeable if Wickens was paralyzed.
