Sigh. Why do people always drag out that stereotype? It's like, oh, you're Slytherin? Well, then you're EVIL EVIL EVIL.
Look on Pottermore! Slytherin qualities include loyalty, determination, ambition (dictionary definition: having strong belief in making your goals and dreams happen), cleverness, and being able to think on your feet. Slytherins are nice people! Don't judge!

Peter Pettigrew was a Gryffindor. He wasn't brave or good.

Merlin and Serverus Snape were in Slytherin. They weren't evil.

Gilderoy Lockhart was a Ravenclaw. He wasn't smart or intelligent enough to produce a spell that a second year could easily cast.

Nymphadora Tonks was a Hufflepuff. Imagine giving birth then going off to war. Not such a weak house now. (I also see it fit to say that Rowling was sorted into Hufflepuff)

Slytherin is always portrayed as an evil house. Don't forget that Merlin was in Slytherin. So it's actually just stereotyping (cough Voldemort) saying that Slytherin is full of bullies. (I'm a Ravenclaw so im not defending my house)
