Tracking Awareness: The Art of Sign Cutting

A Universal Training Systems, Inc. Production. This video features Joel Hardin, one of America's original trackers, who helped bring man-tracking into focus and into the skillsets of many first responders, especially those serving in Search & Rescue teams and operations. Joel and Ab Taylor. Joel and Ab were active primarily in the American West and North Western regions.

We are not sure if this video is even available any longer. It was an old dub we pulled from OSI's archives. The quality isn't great, but it is still a useful piece of knowledge for trackers. We also post it here to honor these men and their pioneering spirit that helped bring the tracking skills back to the American first responder, as well as the military.

The techniques primarily focus around what is called the step-by-step method of tracking and the use of the "tracking stick." These are fundamental skills useful even to the tactical and combat tracker and worth the time to consider.

I'm actually very good friends with Mr. Hardin, should definitely check out his book "Tracker" it talks about many of his tracking stories!

Good video! I've always found tracking fascinating but hadn't found a good video on it 'til now. Love to hear the stories. Some Westerns have good stories about Apache trackers or how to evade people tracking you. Also some of the Aborigine tribes in Australia have some great trackers.
