What is Dynamic Routing | Why we need Dynamic Routing Protocols

In this video you will get to knwo the limitations of Static Routing and default routing and why we need the Dynamic Routing protocols such as RIP, OSPF, EIGRP & BGP.

Dynamic routing protocols, as their name suggests, are used to dynamically exchange routing information between routers. Their implementation allows network topologies to dynamically adjust to changing network conditions, and to ensure that efficient and redundant routing continues in spite of any changes. In addition, they are invaluable to the management, administration, and configuration of networks as relatively low administrative overhead is required to configure highly complex routing scenarios. Compared to statically configuring routing in topology, the implementation of dynamic routing protocols vastly improves the scalability of networks.

Routing protocols are used to enable the routers exchange routing information, they allow routers to learn about remotely connected networks dynamically. This information is then added to their routing tables as a basis for forwarding packets.

Classification
Dynamic routing protocols can be classified in several ways.

Interior and exterior gateway routing protocols,
Distance vector, path vector and link state routing protocols,
Classful and classless.
