The cave you talk about in WASHINGTON STATE is called 'THE APE CAVES' and is actually NEAR STEVENSON, WA which is inside the MOUNT ST. HELENS NATIONAL VOLCANIC MONUMENT in the GIFFORD PINCHOT NATIONAL FOREST.
While in grade school, every year the 5 th grade classes would have an overnight fieldtrip to explore the caves.
I only made it 1/4 of the way before turning back w/ a teacher and 2 other students. I have never gone back. There was an EERIE FEELING that had me cautious. Not more than 7 months later MT. ST. HELENS ERUPTED on MAY 18, 1980!! 😱
