Modern Treatment Planning Systems (TPS) are packed with many features to help the user to generate high-quality treatment plans.
Nevertheless, the planners have to do many repetitive tasks, which reduces efficiency. Furthermore, important functionalities may be missing or are only available in certain TPS.
With the help of scripting, these problems can be eliminated.
This video shows how the Eclipse-Scripting-API (ESAPI) can be used to equip the Eclipse-TPS from Varian with automation, plan checks, and extra functionalities.
In some cases, customized scripts are absolutely necessary because different workflows and nomenclatures prevail in each clinic. In addition, such scripts can be very helpful for research projects.
