Hey my people. Some of you have pointed out that what i described is the bastardized version of the original tsundere trope. And that Shadowheart still could fit the original definition of the trope as a character that simply warms up to you slowly. I can undersrand that better 😊

Interesting Tsundere started of referring to someone who started of cold and abrasive and become sweet and caring over time. So it was just a word to describe a type of character arc before it became the trope it is today, which I also hate.

'the death of the tsundere' where it gets discused how the digitalisation of our media has change the stereotipe from a girl that warms up to you to what we have nowadays.( or better saide making characters archetypes and storybeats modular example all of the avangers movies where heros just get draged and droped into the seeting)

I mean, given Shadowheart's situation, her demeanor makes sense. She has a mcguffin to guard which everyone seems to want to take. She also likely has difficulty trusting anyone not within her religion sect, although there are ways to earn that trust regardless. Reducing her down to a two-dimensional trope like tsundere really does not express the truth behind her character one bit.

It's my firm belief that "tsundere" as an archetype is merely the bare bones of a complex charcter. I am also a hater of the trope for this reason.

So you didn’t romance her from the beginning even accidentally. You didn’t get her out of the pod, and upon landing hear her admit she trusts you enough to trust an enemy turned ally.

You know you described a bastardized version of the trope right?

It was originally just someone that only showed affection to a select few or one.

Not only that but many modern Tsundere types also open up and start showing real compassion towards their SO. What made them the tsun in this scenario was their rough exterior and harsh demenor that made ot seem like they were unwilling to form a deeper connection.

A trope isn't strictly one thing. It is a spectrum of ideas.

What you descrived her as would solidly be a type of tsundere. Just not the most common iteration of one.
