I’m an opera singer, and I’d oftentimes cut thru the local cemetery to avoid this 90 degree turn in the highway out in the country where I live, because a guy was killed whilst walking on that turn. I usually do some singing when I walk since it’s the country, and it’s just fun for me. One day, the people who lived about 200 meters from the cemetery saw me walking out with my dog and singing, and they said to me, “Whew! We thought the cemetery was haunted, because we kept hearing this voice singing in the cemetery everyday but never saw a person in there. We’re so glad it’s not actually a ghost!” 😂

Finally someone who decides to follow the rules even if they think it's a joke

I lived next to an older cemetery 30 years ago. They were the nicest and quietest neighbors ever.

My dad was a cemetery groundskeeper and foreman for 40 years. Dad loved his job, and he would tell me all kinds of crazy stories about funerals, digging up corpses for family moving them, etc.

as someone who actually works at a graveyard as a groundskeeper I can safely say this is normal

Henry genuinely creeped me out! Fantastic story and flawlessly performed!

I like how not all the rules were used in the story. It feels like in a lot of these someone gets a set of rules saying while working here, some of these might happen and if you work here long enough probably all will. And yet it almost seems every time, every single one happens the first night the person starts. So its a nice change of pace some never occurred, just that they existed.

it's nice to see that they actually used the myth that gargoyles were used to ward off evil spirits in some legends. those statues were true bros

Okay, i have a theory about the Gargoyles. I think that they are actually friendly & helpful but they are unable to move if anyone living looks at them. Marcus may have presented the rules in a way that the main character would still follow them because your more likely to keep to the rules & not look at them if you believe they will hurt you if you do look as opposed to if Marcus said the Gargoyles are harmless & helpful to you, but can't move if you look at them.

I love the gargoyles! True guardians of the guardian (I assume they thought they were protecting Marcus…almost sweet!). Great story, and narration was perfection (as usual!). Love this Lighthouse!

I really like the rule-based stories you do. You tend to find the better ones. I like that most of the rules seem somewhat mundane and explainable. Something like "The gate must be locked at 8pm" or "Don't answer the phone." That adds some believability to them and it makes sense why someone would follow them. Most other stories have these ridiculous rules that no one in their right mind would believe or follow. It will be like, "Rule 1: the walls ooze blood at midnight, hit the griddy to make it stop. Rule 2: At 3:33am, EDP will appear, offer him the cupcake in the fridge, you don't want to know what happens if you don't."

In Europe we visited a simple cemetery. There was a beautiful small cottage with windows. Above the door were two photographs, one of a young woman and the other young man. Looking inside one window, there were paneled walks with needlepoint pictures, a settee with small cushions, the polished wooden floor had a lovely area rug. A dining table set with dinnerware and fine cups, unlit candles in candle holders, and a big bouquet of fresh flowers. It looked like a quaint tea room. I asked my European friend what was this for. Was it a small bistro? Or a visitors' room? She said it was for the deceased. The deceased were the ones whose portraits and names were above the outside door. I said, what, for a wake? She said, no, they were buried here in the cemetery, and this was for their ghosts. They were double suicides, and this cottage was their special home so they will stay here and not haunt their families or other places.

It was beautiful, but spooky.

I love the rule based stories! The gargoyles were a nice twist as protectors of a sort instead of just another threat. Your narration is excellent and keeps evolving, getting more nuanced. Keep up the amazing work!

1. I'm glad that despite how ridiculous it sounded to MC, he still decided to follow the rules.
2. I'm just glad that the gargoyles were always there to save the day.
3. The moment MC stepped out of the salt circle, I was like, bruh why did you leave?!
This was a great story and combined with your top tier narration made it more awesome. Thank you as always, LH!

Absolutely fantastic. I used to work in a cemetery and sometimes I would clean the chapel we're funerals were held and in the winter time it gets dark early, but I have never found a more peaceful place at night to be. A nice walk at night through the cemetery, is quiet and peaceful and I find no fear within.

I love the rules story, I like variety as well, but I enjoy rules stories as long as long as they're well written.
