Reviewing the Top Interactive Cat Toys!

I set out to review the top interactive cat toys on Amazon and Chewy to point you in the right direction. Granted, I'm a pretty harsh critic - but it took a LOT of digging to find good toys. Many cat guardians know that cats are underrepresented in the pet industry, and the only way to change that is to make your voice heard.

What are some of your cat's favorite toys? And what things frustrate you about them?

I know, friends, I sound sometimes like the grouch who stole playtime lol. Not so! I may be just a wee bit picky about the toys themselves, but playtime rocks! so tell me..what’s your cat’s fave toys?? ❤❤PLAY WITH YOUR CAT!

My cats favorite toy is a random bootlace he found. He'll bring it to you when he wants to play.

I love watching Jackson turning into a teenage boy and laughing at the name of the cat toy.

I firmly believe that your cats favorite toy will be something completely random and not even for them originally. My two cats favorite toy is a cheap plastic laundry hamper from Walmart that has holes around it. One will jump into it and the other will be outside and they’ll just paw each other. They love it.

My stomach literally HURTS from laughing so hard over Jackson laughing at the SNATCH toy! LOL

My cat isn't into wands. She doesn't know how to play with them. She really mostly likes going into a cat tunnel halfway, then i throw a ball in front of the exit of the tunnel, and she shoots out like a cannonball after the ball. She's not even so much into the hitting of the ball, she just wants to exit the tunnel after i throw the ball. That's the fun part for her.

Also she likes to dig in my sock drawer.

My cat the Cat Dancer. It looks deceptively simple, but the fact that it's on a spring wire and not a string makes the end move in exactly the way that makes it interesting to cats. Like, it moves very bug like, which is great! I can consistently grab that toy and my Cleo will still wildly play with it regardless of how used she is to it.

A homemade "whack-a-mouse" toy has been a big hit with several shelter cats I've played with. Just a broad cardboard box (ideally not too tall) with many small holes on the top, and a mouse at the end of a stick that you make pop out of a random hole.

Our tortie elf sphynx plays fetch.

We never taught her that, she just started doing it one day. We'll throw her little duck or mouse, and she'll run and grab it and bring it back. She might play with it for a second, but then she just looks at us like, "Ok, throw it again!"

That being said, the laser pointer is her hands down favorite toy. She gets so excited whenever she sees that little red dot, and she doesn't get bored of it either! I try to make sure that she ends the laser session with one of her stuffed toys so she can have the satisfaction of doing the "catch/kill" part.

My cat is weird. Her favorite interactive toys are not the ones with prey on the end. She likes the really long ribbon ones that she can just wrap around and roll with and be a total acrobat with.

*Cat Lures Lighting Rod* - THE best cat wand I've ever encountered. Perfect length of wand with just the right amount of flex. The "string" is actually a light wire with a black coating which has a clasp on the end. You can change out the lure at the end very quickly and, because it's a clasp, you can easily create your own lures just by adding a loop to other toys.

My cat doesn’t like anything I had to spend money on. He only likes beat up string or pieces of trash on the ground 😂

Jackson, I've been watching your videos and I'm in the process of adopting an 11 year old female calico cat named Rainbow from light and love animal rescue in Florida right now!! ❤ thank you for all these awesome videos, I can't wait to spoil her with tons of fun toys

Yes that checklist hits all points. My cats’ favorite is earth friendly but is destroyed in 5 sessions. Can’t wait to see the good stuff. ❤ thx Jackson

We adopted our kitty in November. We have tried numerous toys and the only one she will consistently play with is the one where a wand moves underneath a covering. She will sit on the cover when she wants us to turn it on. She runs away from any wand toy (we have some suspicion that someone may not have been nice to her in the past 😢). She will play with a kicker or a crinkle ball now and then. And she's only 4 years old! We'll keep trying. BTW, she is also the pickiest eater. We have tried about 20 different brands, trying to get her to eat healthier foods, and the only one she will always eat is Fancy Feast. Chicken. Period.

Feather duster wand toys with feathers on the end are great for under a blanket/pillow wiggle plays! My cats love it! They will dive into a blanket and dig to try and get it! You can’t do that as well with fishing rod toys. They are also good for shy cats or newly adopted cats afraid of fishing rods. (Like my cat- lower to the ground was less intimidating at first) they definitely have their use apart from casting Casper spells 😂 I usually mix the more cardio intensive fishing toys with the under blanket catch the feather 🪶 when they look a bit pooped out but their eyes say we need more play!

Thease videos have been so helpful. We had two cats, unfortunately one passed away and my boy was left without a playmate. It took us a few weeks and a couple of your videos to get him to start playing with us as he would always play with/at the same time as his brother before.
I watched your channel 4 years ago when I first got my second cat, and is what made me want a cat for my cat. I cant say enough how thankful I am that we refound your channel when we did and that you happen to be doing play related videos.

I could so relate to this video. I can be heard muttering and seen shaking my head in the cat toy lanes in the stores on a semi regular basis. 😅 Thankfully ive found a few things that are holding up fairly well and that my very energetic Jasper enjoys. Currently his favorite along these interactive line is a crinkly winged butterfly with well sewn in feathers and ribbon wand toy. This is made way better by dangling it front of the box my tea krder came in that i cut a small wi dow into. He LOVES dashing into it as far as he fits and then scooting himself and the box forward with his hind legs while he reaches through the window with a frint paw to to snag the butterfly. This morning he was entertaining himself with that same box scooting around chasing a white wool ball. 😂 His other favorites are small wool socker balls and a rattle mouse that he inherited from previous generations of cats when they were made to last! And the best toy ever according to Jasper is the cork from the delicious bottle of organic wine we treated ourselves to a while back. Wine corks are an old favorite from past cats too. They move unpredictably when batted about. Its a win win for us and the cat! 😊

That KONG wand didn't look enticing at all! I will say though, they make great toys for playing fetch! Our cat's first toy was a red crinkly crunchy teddy from them and she taught us to play fetch! She will pick it up and cry with it in her mouth before walking into the room we're in and dropping it on the ground constantly! It's how I wake up every day and what she does before and after every meal, like clockwork! She has the same toy in multiple colour variants and loves them all! Her red teddy will always be her favourite though <3
