"Ay, bomma lily wah
Wah bip bebopalootle, uh
Whoa, yeah
Ah! ah! ah!"

Can't think of any reason, don't know exactly why
Must be it's out of season, give it another try
I'm out here in the meadow, part of an old stone wall
Stand here because he said so, waitin' around to fall, yeah

Some things are left unspoken, some things are handed down
The circle stands unbroken, sendin' it back around
I've seen you rollin' clover, dressed for a scarecrow ball
Too bad the dance is over, nothin' to show at all

Can't help but feel uncertain, knowing which way to turn
They want to raise the curtain and you're holdin' the words to learn
I'm out here in the meadow, part of an old stone wall
Stand here because you said so, waitin' around to fall

I remember loving everything about this song upon hearing it when I was at the tender age of 13; wore out the tape on an 8-track player (yes, an 8-track player, if that doesn't date you, nothing will, lol). Tonight, some 50 years later, the old memory banks randomly and unexpectedly fired the opening lyrics into my consciousness once more and I had to sit down and find Meadows and listen again. Like all of his work, it was well worth the effort and the moment it took to have it playing again and hearing... "the circle stands unbroken, sending it back around". What a pleasure to still be able to listen and appreciate this song after half a century. I hope everyone reading this comment has this same opportunity some 50 years from now.

I used to keep playing the screaming part over and over on the 8-track in the van until my mom couldn't take it any more...she was so cool and so is this album.

I just think this is one of the absolute best songs ever conceived and performed. Any thoughts?

My older brother (Mikey) and I double dated to see Joe Walsh. We got a bit on the high side and Mikey kept yelling out his request ‘Rocky Mountain High’ Rocky Mountain High’...it hurt to have to break the news to him...John Denver wasn’t performing that night. I struggle to let him live it down.

Used to listen to this entire album in a friend's basement on the turntable with 4 of us air drumming. I think I was 13 yrs old. We would have air drumming contests, lol.

Still love this album to this day....45 yrs later....LOL

0:00 This particular tune brings to mind, a class I took at a community College many years ago...Music Appreciation captured my attention and I'm happy to say that; It became one of the best choices I've ever made! It so happened to be that the instructor was an avid, "Joe Walsh Fan" and he exposed this great tune to us as an example of, "How to structure and arrange a memorable composition!"...After all these years, I'm still here to testify, "He was a brilliant
