Thanks for the video.
Those fish are called “Istavrit” in Turkish. Closest English name would be “horse mackerel”. I think they look more like Spanish/jack mackerel that we catch in SoCal. They don’t get much bigger close to shore.
They are indeed tasty deep fried head and all, but guts cleaned. I used to catch them with hand line and 15 hooks or so back in 1967-70. This summer I plan to go back for more!!

fascinating! I saw a picture of this on Facebook the other day and was intrigued to see what it was all about. Reminds me a bit of the fishing we used to do at Imperial Beach Pier in southern San Diego. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, it is interesting. They catch very small fish, maybe 3-4 inches long. They catch 10 at a time. A small shiny artificial lure is the bait. Teu batter them up and fry them and eat them whole. Actually quite tasty.
