Glad and excited to announce that science communicator & researcher Dr. Nabanita Borah will be delivering the next two very interesting talks in the e-Seminar Series being organized by us. Inviting all interested to attend the talk!
Talk-I on 1st December 2021, 4-5 PM (IST) | "COMMUNICATING" SCIENCE
Abstract: Transferring knowledge from experts to non-experts and empowering the latter to utilize it for their benefit is tricky. Often scientific information gets distorted in the process of simplification. This is particularly the case for non-experts without a scientific background. With the recent surge of communication technology and social media, increased intentional scientific misinformation and false news are of growing concern. While both cognitive engagement and emotional engagement are the necessary conditions to transfer complex scientific knowledge; emotional engagement is more effective. The first talk will focus on this basic concept.
