What if I have separation anxiety, from my cat

always say goodbye to the cat when i go out. 'cat first' ceremony when i come back in. helped in my case.

Yes, since being homeless due to the pandemic and not recovering with a place of my own, I had to put my cats with several temporary fosters, and my cat Oliver gets very vocal, with hissing and yowling and swatting at people. My other cat knows what’s up and he’ll cower in a corner and cry! 😢 it hurts, but I refuse to dump them in a shelter. My “situation” won’t be forever, so we’ll be together again.

Having a good hello/goodbye routine can help a lot. I pick her up and give pets every time I leave and then do the same every time I walk in the door. No anxiety, just happiness at my return!

Never knew my 17 year old cat starts screaming on the top of her lungs if I’m so much as ten minutes late coming home from work until I got a roommate. I put treats in a puzzle cube before I leave to keep her busy and when I come home. It seem to work (lost roommate so I’m not sure)I’ve tried the wand but she either wails at me or she’ll catch it and sit on it so I can’t move it anymore. Then she’ll start wailing again. She wants me to carry her around and never put her down. I used to carry her around on my side like a toddler while I did housework and she’d dig her claws in if I tried putting her down.

Since covid happened my cat has this as well I just didn't realize it until he started greeting me at the door when I came home and would follow me until he was satisfied I wasn't leaving again for the day.

My cat suffers from separation anxiety & general anxiety since she got herself stuck outside for 24hrs & we couldn’t find her & we think she got frightened by the foxes that roam our area at night so now I can’t even go to the bathroom for 5seconds without her crying the house down & she always sits next to me on the sofa & scared of people she had a licking her fur off phase but it’s finally grown back

I live along with my cat. I went into the hospital for 31 days. All tho someone was coming in feeding and watering her every day they didn't spend any time with her. Now when I get ready to go out she becomes very anxious. She will jump on my back and pull my hair and cry. I don't even to anywhere now. They can make you feel so guilty.

My poor baby girl used to have such bad social anxiety. She would go around the house looking for me, meowing pitifully. That was even if I went away for short periods! Then one day I ended up in the hospital and was away from my baby girl for over a week. As soon as I got home, my cat immediately started yelling at me and leading me to the bedroom for some snuggles. Broke my heart to hear how sad she was. Eventually, after regularly leaving and coming back, she grew confident I would in fact come back. She doesn’t even care anymore when I leave. But when i come back she’s first to r her greet me!

‘I’m a kitty in a basket, you gotta rub me the right way’🥰 what a cutie!
It’s a very good thing there’s already a video on separation anxiety.

My rescue has officially gotten over his separation anxiety. His would manifest when I would leave the home or take a shower. I use a treat routine when leaving and returning to help him cope with me leaving. Thankfully he eventually got over the shower when he realized it wasn't an evil water monster. Now I've got him another kitty friend to keep him company while I'm gone and he couldn't be doing any better. It's a process that took 2 years, but it is possible to conquer 👍

I have 4 indoor cats. I can leave them 2/3 days alone and they won’t even get mad. As long they have food, water all is fine. They have each other to sleep and play with. My absence is almost not noticed which is a bit kind of hurtful ... 🤣🤣

That's why she should have gotten 2 kittens. When she has to leave, kitty has a friend 🙂 (if able to afford it, if course)

Edit: I've gotten a few angry responses, so let me clarify. This is not intended to be judgemental at all. It's a reference to something that Jackson often says.

I my got my kitty during quarantine. When I also retired. So if I am out more than two hours she actually yells at me when. I get home. I fo put kitty TV on for her. Seems to help. 🤷‍♀️

I tell my cats where I’m going and say “I’ll be back baby. So be a good kitty” man all the sucking up I do on the daily. 🤦🏻‍♀️
