This is a documentary video of the acoustic test session of 39 different whistles, air horns and electronic whistle devices to objectively establish the usable range of these devices and to Crown the winner of the World's Loudest and Longest Range device title.

All empirical data was captured by NIST traceable Bruel&Kjaer Type 2270 Acoustic analyzer serial number 3006067 test equipment and graphically rendered with software for the video content.
All equipment calibrations were established using a NIST traceable Bruel&Kjaer type 4231 acoustic calibrator serial number 2039081

All products were purchased from Amazon Marketplace.

I've had my classic fox40 since I was a lifeguard about 20 years ago! It's built like a tank! The only bad thing about it, is when my 7 year old finds it! 🥳

I'm pleased to see the venerable Acme "Thunderer" test so well. It is a classic and, therefore, the most familiar sound for a whistle. There's little mistaking it for something else.

I don't need great LOUDNESS. Just looking for the right TONE to get the attention of middle schoolers in the classroom when they won't stop talking. I really liked the NOT SO LOUD but warbly tone of the cheap generic blue whistle at 9:00 time. Thanks for an informative video.

That marine whistle wasn’t like the kind I seen in another video. This one wasn’t much to write home about. And that party whistle I bout fell out of my seat laughing. Dude 🤣🤣🤣

Personally, I have found that a handgun is much louder and more effective at getting attention than any whistle when it is needed most.
More specifically, both a 10mm or .357 magnum tend to be excellent.

So basically, most of the whistles did well except the cheap no-brand ones. There are of course variables. There's no way to measure how hard you blew each whistle. Location also has to be taken into consideration. The whistle that's going to be very loud in the open doesn't necessarily mean it's going to cut through the trees in a forest or mountains. My personal preference is the pear whistles because they're easiest to use.
