The Holland Tunnel was NOT named after the "country" of Holland. It is named after the designer of the tunnel.

I wonder how loud it was, driving through the Holland Tunnel back then, as cars had little or no sound insulation and cars themselves were much louder, especially compared to their modern counterparts. Anyone who has driven through the Holland Tunnel the same time a motorcycle has (or on a motorcycle) knows exactly what I'm talking about. 🤔
