Delta Airlines Boeing 717 Evening Landing and Takeoff

My first encounter with a 717 was on July 21st, but I saw it twice more on July 22nd. I like this little jet! Thanks for watching.

Beautiful. There is something about the look of rear mounted engines, in line with the streamlined fuselage, that is unmatched. Engines hanging below the wings never looks as elegant to me.

I've heard haters say " oh what's so great about a plane taking off" if you look closely enough there is alot more happening than just these giant birds taking off ...they don't understand what it takes to lift then off the ground.

Normally the 717 would be nose heavy because the wings are situated so close to the back, but the horizontal stabilizers are actually upside down airfoils that push the tail down so the nose goes up first and stays up. That along with the elevators is what keeps the plane from being nose heavy.
