From Loved to Hated: The Decline of Jax in The Amazing Digital Circus

Since the release of the digital circus’s pilot back in october last year, one of the most loved characters was jax. This purple rabbit, voiced by michael kovach was immediately a fan favourite, with the only other character rivalling him in popularity being the show’s protagonist pomni. However since the release of episode 2, the reception of jax has flipped almost overnight. Jax quickly became the most hated and divisive character within the show. This fan backlash has escalated to hate towards anyone who likes the character, and even accusations of retconning towards the showrunner. In this video i’m going to examine how this all happened, talk about how gooseworx responded to this hate, and then move on to talk about audience reactions and media literacy.

The thing is, in the pilot he pushed gangle away from the escalator, knocked kinger and angle into a deep hole, opened kaufmos room and just let pomni and ragatha deal with it, possibly put centipedes in ragathas room, gave rude insults, and also laughs at pain. in episode 2, he rams into a truck to get the stolen maple syrup back, lets gangle drive after hearing the horn, helps pomni make a friend, and lets possibly a whole village get eaten. he literally didn't change. he went from being a rude character to being a rude character again.

I think the fans got a little bit angry that their "wholesome Tumblr sexy man" was just as narcissistic and unhinged as Gooseworx said he would be. 💀

The way Jax made a saddened face before brushing it off when ragatha was talking about kaufmo's funeral made me honestly think he could take a change when the series reaches his end.

This whole situation to me is so funny cause originally when the pilot came out I was on the fence about Jax while people LOVED him. But after the second episode, while people are now HATING him I’ve started to LOVE him.

This should heavily go towards Valentino too in Hazbin Hotel. I really do like his character, without him, Angel Dust wouldn't be who he is now in the series. I really do enjoy his character but at times I can't express that without chronically online children coming after me, saying that because I like him that I deemed to "support" his actions and abuse. Even though I clearly don't, I despise what he does, but some people won't hear me out on it. I also find it a bit funny that other characters in the series have also done terrible things, maybe even worst then what Valentino has done. I mean yeah its Hell! They're there for a reason! I mean for example, Alastor has killed half of the overlords, is a cannibal/supports it, has Husk on a leash, and has killed many people in Hell! Same goes with Vox having cameras in Angel Dusts changing room (4 exact) and cameras all over Pentagram city, hell he even spies and watches Valentino. He even advertises a drone that lets you PEEP on your neighbors!! I bet he's done much more but I'm not about to list everything he's done. Oh let's also not forget Velvette selling love potions/making them! I just hope these fandoms can be more understanding? Let people like what they like! Let people like villains! And please, learn the difference between fact and fiction, for the love of God.

The “Tumblr sexy men” are always the most horrible characters with no redeeming qualities, yet the fandom gets mad when the characters don’t change. They always have the “I can fix them” attitude towards the most evil characters.

Message to these people:
The character is not yours, you can’t control what happens, and you chose to worship this character and ignore the irredeemable qualities they have. That’s your fault.

I have a prediction, and while I don't think it's true, it's the conclusion that feels most satisfying in my head.

The unforgivable thing that Jax is going to do is push everyone else to the point of abstraction, at which point he will be able to redeem himself by figuring out how to reverse abstraction. Personally, this is the only way I reasonably see Jax getting an effective enough redemption arc.

Personally I don’t understand why liking an evil character means you like all the things that they do you can like a villain in a TV show and also not appreciate the things they do you can just like their character also, I don’t see how Jax’s changed too much from the pilot to episode two it’s just that we saw him more in action personally, I don’t understand it
