The connexion between Georges Lemaitre and Fulton Sheen: both studied in University of Louvain under Cardinal Desire Mercier, famous thomist and author of great books in Phylosophy and Theology.

🩵 Dr Bergsma. He’s such a great teacher… I’ve learned so much from him. 🙏🏻

I remember my 8th grade science teacher telling us the big bang theory and evolution exist but we weren't going into detail because we know God created the earth so it's ridiculous. This was in a small town, majority Mormon. I love the freedom to explore science now that I'm Catholic. I was honestly afraid to learn about evolution or big bang in depth before, because I was sure it would shake my faith.

Only minor criticisms is that Lemaitre wasn’t a Jesuit, he was a diocesan priest. I genuinely don’t know why this is so widely believed

Great topic. One small correction: the "Cosmological Constant" was added by Einstein not by Lemaitre. Einstein later said it was, "the biggest blunder of my career." He was later forced to admit that Lemaitre' math and physics were indeed correct.

Its unfair how Christian reason is way above scientific reason, like men boxing women.

Kolbe Center put out a documentary 'How the World Was Made in Six Days', its an incredible film with scientific foundations

This is incredible! And while it is clear an "unmoved mover" created the universe, I can't help but ask "why"? Yes, the Creator could do it, but didn't have to. So why do it?

Sorry for my sarcasm, but this is what I think of “science”: 🤪

The property of the universe being eternal does not give it the property of being the necessary being and unmoved mover. Aristotle believed in an eternal universe yet he believed in God, defending simultaneously His necessity and unmovable mobility without contradicting the eternal universe nor turning it into God itself. Being eternal does not mean you are God, that you do not have a cause and is the cause of everything. For the eternal universe is also created.

The universe did not create itself. People will often answer that with well did God create himself. My answer is, all I know about is this reality and I cannot pretend to understand the one God lives in.

Not a criticism, but, in response to Dr. Bergsma's allegation that atheistic scientists have turned to abstract concepts like the "multiverse "to escape the idea of a Supreme Being, is it not possible that the possibility of a multiverse is one of those ideas that support the notion of a supreme intelligence "monkeying" with creation? Is it not possible that Dr. Bergsma is limiting the scope, power and majesty of the Creator? (Again, not a criticism. We're human and so we all tend to anthropomorphize God.)

The universe is expanding but we would not know if expansion is infinite. Like the rain-evaporation cycle, at one point the universe might stop expanding and starts to shrink again, then another big bang.

what about the idea that God made everything not from a big bang but just made it in steps. Like making light the first day and everything else.

This explains the "what you put out into the universe you get" type people. Simply denying God.
