Health promotion is an arm of Public Health that is all about helping people make choices that translate into better health. The Ottawa Charter provides overall strategies that can be used to address the economic and environmental factors that support positive behavior change. This part of public health and global health focusses on preventing disease and health improvement. It addresses issues like healthy diet, smoking cessation, increased physical activity, addressing alcohol use and other areas where people can make healthy choices.

Well made, thank you. I believe some of our officials could use this refresher.

Great video! I gave up explaining my major and my degree to people way back when lol I transitioned into health coaching, something else I gave up trying to explain. I love wellness. It just makes me a glutton for punishment.

I wonder where the threshold is for social and individual health corelated with GDP growth? It appears that many developed nations have higher rates of lifestyle related illness, e.g. anxiety, depression, obesity, diabetes and heart disease. Where are the statistics on this? Also, what about the cultures that live remotely closer to nature, how does their health compare with developed higher density populations?
