The game getting harder and harder at higher tiers is something a *lot* of new players don't realize. Especially when they decide to buy a premium T8 in the beginning...
WoT at high tiers is hard enough when you don't have the map knowledge or tactical experience, but when you barely know the basics it is just brutal. But i guess they see "bigger numbers = better"... ?
One of the reasons high tier is so much more difficult is because it gets slower. DPM-to-HP-ratio gets worse, armor starts to be more useful and higher view range limits the possibiliies of movement/positioning. That means WoT turns from the chaotic DPM-freeforall at lowtier to a much more tactical game at high tier, where every single position and tank starts to matter a lot more.
Combine that with usually more experienced players exploiting every single mistake you make and those mistakes usually resulting not just in your but also your flanks anihilation, and you get a pretty hard experience for newer players at high tier.

That beeing said, i would recommend a sniping TD line as the first, maybe the soviet Obj 268-line or so. They may not be the most competetive tanks, but the snipy playstyle is good for beginners. You only need to know like 2 positions per map to be somewhat useful, and they allow you to learn the maps and learn how fights usually develope and where tanks usually go. Also you don't have to bother with micro-management that much, which is something a newer player will be hopelesly overwhelmed with. On top of that the usually higher penetration levels of TDs don't require as much knowledge of armor models.

Also as a recommendation for new players: Stay out of TX until you get comfortable at lower tiers first. TX tanks are an entirely different experience, since you usually end up in pure TX battles, which play completly different and are a *much* more competetive gold-slugfest (which you won't be able to afford or compete with). I know, its tempting to see those nice numbers and tanks you get at TX, but trust me: It is not worth it for beginners. The game won't just magically get better just because you reached the highest tier, simply because the wide-spread MM of T9 to the 2/3-mono-tiered MM of TX is a MUCH bigger step than it seems.

One should get the tank that is most fun first. St-ii double penetrator line in my opinion is very good and easy to play through.

The fact that this vehicle is still so good considering the power-creep over the years and even after its nerfs just shows how utterly broken it was on release lol

Without knowing this, the 430U was my first tier 10 that i got probably 5-6 years ago. I still have a sub 50% winrate with it but i think it did me favors as a first tier 10

I actually can’t find an argument in this. The 430u is a beast. The Maus is my favorite tier ten but the 430u is really really good.

Id reccomend an e 50m for a begginer, the tree is weird, but the tier 10 is great, my highest dmg games in onslaught were in the e50m

love the amx m4 51 - the grind (unless the t8) is a great experience and the 130mm gun is so much fun.

The first tank I ever went for was the T71 (now the T71 DA) back in 2014 because I saw Vechs play it and it was cool looking

Also, If you want to get a feel of the 430u but you can't be arsed going up the line. Grab a 113 from the store. Pretty much the same (bar the camo - as it's a heavy)

I love my Obj 430U. I think of it as my heavy medium. I'm not very good, but I still have good games in my 430U. I often go to 'heavy' locations and it copes remarkably well.

Super Conq was my first tier 10 but the Obj 430 was my first tier 9
