My uncle has 3 ram pumps still working on his farm in Herefordshire. All were installed around 1870. While two have had to have new bushings and seals, one has been pumping uninterrupted for the past 140 years. Amazing build quality back in the Victorian era. Sadly missed today

It's so relaxing just watching you work over these old devices. It's the opposite of stressful. Thanks.

That check valve though. That ram pump is too cool. Everything is so beautifully made. Great find.

I liked the length of this video. That polished brass is so much more special than a hardware store check valves brass.

Weather it's 6 minute videos or 13, I'm content. Each time frame has it's place. Just as long as you keep'em commin on YOUR time. Every man needs his time. Great stuff by the way.Thank you

All of this reminds me so much of my Dad.  I grew up on a cattle farm in Mississippi and my Dad almost never hired anyone to fix anything.  If he had never worked on a particular piece of equipment, or appliance, or vehicle, he would just tear it apart and learned how it worked.  In the end he always fixed the problem and I really couldn't venture a guess at how much money he has saved, and is still saving, during his life.  He is a professional "re-purposer."

Very cool, I have never heard of one before. This is why I keep coming back, I learn and get entertained at the same time.

It is nice to hear your thoughts as you look over a piece of equipment.  I service and repair machinery and I find your process comforting as it mimics mine.  Keep up the fine work.

1st - I love the longer videos. 2nd - I'm just getting back into watching your videos after a long while, and I just want to say that they are fantastic. You sir are an amazing man. 3rd - That check valve on the Ram pump is beautiful piece of craftsmanship. I don't think you can find much anymore that 100% brass, and if there is then its extremely expensive. I also wish things were still made as durable as they were back in the day. Great up the awesome work and have a great evening.

"I don't know what that is" "Lets take this apart" that sounds like every conversation i had with my friends growing up

I noticed also the main check valve has one sided flutes in the back side of it to spin it slightly on every cycle to naturally grind the valve surface clean. very smart idea
