Ventolin accuhaler, evohaler, nebules, respirator solution, syrup and injection all contain salbutamol, which is a medicine used to open up the airways and make breathing easier in people with breathing problems such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
The active ingredient in Ventolin, salbutamol, is a bronchodilator. Bronchodilators are medicines which open up the airways that are narrowed in people with conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Bronchodilators also help to reduce some inflammation, such as the swelling seen in the lungs of asthmatics.
