Hey, Momma. I know I gave you no wiggle room for this one, so glad you chose this-that it's also my middle name has nothing to do wtih it. My late Pops and I were fans of an old radio show called "Musical Starstreams" (I know, but it was a good show) and DCD were featured heavily. Next thing I knew, Pop was loaning me this record, "Within The Realm of a Dying Sun". How's that for a toe-tapper? I promptly called him up to tell him to go buy another copy as he wasn't getting this one back. I liberated all the other albums in their canon so this one would not be lonely. Thirty years on, DCD is still in heavy rotation here. This was just what I hoped for. Thanks, Momma.

Dead Can Dance is so unique. The music and the singing is pure art.

DCD fan since 1982 . Seen them live numerous times, and Lisa solo once.
One of my favourite bands ever . For me they defy genres . They have created their own genre if anything.
My personal favourite tracks by them are are : In power we entrust the love advocated, Neikira, Ocean, Indoctrination .
Solo Lisa has released some brilliant music eg Vespers, Of Love undone .

I know where I know Lisa Gerrard's name from! The Gladiator Soundtrack! OMG That is in my top two favorite movie soundtracks next to American Beauty. I have no doubts now I am going to love this band. Thank you, Caine for the intro to them!

Lisa Gerrard is amazing. "Sacrifice" sends me to another place, as well as "Host of Seraphim" but not for everyone. Also, love her voice in "Gortoz A Ran" ( theme from "Blackhawk Down") with Denez Prigent who also has a beautiful voice. Very haunting song.

I listened to them for years and years in the 90's, saw them in Portland OR. Epic musical talent and mood inducing music. Lisa Gerrard sang on the Gladiator soundtrack. During that time, I was also listening to a lot of Loreena McKennitt, should you ever choose to explore her stunning music.

Dead Can Dance is one of my favorites. Listen to the Host of Seraphim. Not the video version, just a studio version. The video shows disturbing images and poverty which I think takes away from you just clearing your mind and taking in her music. To be fair I think this about most music - that the videos distract.
