Make outstanding art with positive & negative space! Simple art lesson idea!

This tutorial demonstrates a fantastic art activity perfect for your class.

The art activity explores positive and negative space, which is an important concept in art and design. This lesson is a great way to introduce the concept of positive and negative space and will support their understanding of colour and shape and will help develop their cutting skills.

In Japan this method is called "Notan" art and is often described as the play between light and dark.

The design can be as simple or as complicated as you want, so it is perfect for all abilities... they always look amazing!

I would say that this activity takes between 45 minutes to an hour to complete, needs very little preparation or planning and takes no time at all to tidy up.
