Quick Tip: Lanyard Stop Switch

An emergency engine cutoff device is a critical safety feature of your boat. It will ensure the boat will stop if the driver leaves the helm for any reason, helping protect you and everyone else on the water. Whether you prefer a traditional corded lanyard with manual switch or an approved wireless alternative, if you're driving the boat, make sure to wear it at all times when the engine is running.

This video really helped me understand that 1) my 24 year old boat already has a kill switch, it just looks different. 2) Found the original lanyard that works perfectly. At first, I thought I was going to have to install one. Thanks again.

Simple, but great little video, I just purchased a boat that has this type of switch and I asked the seller as to how it works, he said he never used it and had no idea. I'm used to the regular type of kill switches that connect around the key insert. I've been searching everywhere to try and figure out how this type works with no success till now. THANK YOU

That is helpful. I had no idea which thing to use in the new universal lanyard.

Also make sure it is not wrapped around shifter or anything else that would render it useless

Make sure it works before launching boat, then attach it.
