EVERYONE Is Evacuating Upstate New York Right Now!

The tiny, vibrant heartbeat of New York City pulses with the lives of over 19 million souls, yet just beyond its glowing horizons lies the vast, unspoken wilderness of Upstate New York. Here, in a land where silence holds dominion, the untamed beauty of nature stands in stark contrast to the city's ceaseless clamor. Amongst towering mountains and forests that whisper ancient secrets, this expanse remains an enigma, untouched and unseen by the city's teeming masses. It's a world apart, where the wild and the forgotten reign supreme. Join us to explore Upstate New York, a hidden ghost town in a state brimming with stories waiting to be told.

New York State is a massive place, with a population of around 19.5 million people. This huge number ranks it as the fourth most populous state in the entire United States. But here's a fact that might catch you off guard: a whopping 62% of these folks, which is well over half of the state's population, squeeze into a tiny area. This area makes up just about 4% of the state's total land area, tucked away in the southeastern corner.

This densely populated spot is none other than the world-renowned New York City. With the bulk of the population crammed into New York City, the vast remainder of New York State, despite its size, is relatively sparsely populated. This situation presents an interesting contrast, almost as if the majority of the state is whisper-quiet in comparison to the bustling city life. It raises a curious question: why don’t more people consider living outside of the big city, in the areas often referred to as Upstate New York?

Nobody wants to live in a state where you can be financially ruined for simply doing business

Upstate New York is beautiful and New York City is the armpit of the US. Like California, the political climate has ruined the state and made it uninhabitable

I was born and raised in Rochester, on the shore of Lake Ontario. I grew up playing and camping from the Finger Lakes and Catskills to the Adirondacks and Herkimer/Mohawk valley. I spent a lot of time with the Seneca People of the Iroquois as well ❤ I last lived just on the shore of Keuka Lake in the Finger Lakes in a small, charming town. It was very cozy and slow paced even compared to Rochester. It was like living in a Thomas Kinkaid painting, Amish buggies and all! I absolutely adore the beauty of the land there. We often told people we were from "the pretty part, not the city part" when saying we were from NY. Sadly the way the state is run makes the cost of living unbelievably difficult to maintain, often stated as needing 2 1/2 jobs to afford rent and taxes are an atrocity... I now live WA, finding living much easier. I have found here much similar nature and variety in land, bigger mountains and just as many waterfalls. All without the hard, biting winters! What do I miss? The shear beauty of Autumn in the Finger Lakes and the fireflies... oh how I miss the fireflies!!

We had an office in Rochester NY. Just gave it up. The inner cities there are just at a stand still. It’s no motion or livihood there. It is a dead zone. For real

How many migrants went into New York . Just curious about the replacement rate . 175, 000 or so?? So one and half migrants for every person that moved out. Why do you think that is.? Am I asking too many questions or not enough?

I came from New York. My parents left in the 1970's. I live in Maryland now, and if I move, it will NOT be back to New York, and I will NOT waste the time and expense of moving to only remain in Maryland.

Ive lived in the Adirondacks my entire life. Ive visted every state and several countries, no place has ever felt more like home to me then the mountains of upstate NY. I enjoy the great outdoors and NY state has 7600 lakes ponds and reservoirs and 70k miles of streams and rivers over 3800 mountains to climb and summit. A hunting and fishing paradise. All while being a few hours drive to one of the biggest and most important city in the country. I will call these mountians my home until im buried within them.

Rural NY is beautiful and conservative minded. Taxes are high but we are rewarded with excellent schools.

I live in upstate ny...have spent most of my life here. Not going anywhere now that I'm a senior citizen. And there are really not that many people leaving. Oswego and Syracuse are full of people and activity. There is a lot of open land. Where nobody lives...I prefer the country. Living in cities can be expensive. But there are still places to live that do not cost all you can make. Most businesses are paying 15 dollars an hour now. I'm not saying things are cheap. In the past, most people left here because of the harsh winters. But that is changing...this winter was the most snow free winter ever, that I can remember in my lifetime. Sure it got cold, which I love. But we didn't get snowed in or lose our electric. I love my small city.😉❤

Upstate NY us hardly a wilderness. Real wilderness is unroaded and undeveloped. Even the Adirondaks are highly developed with roads and for recreation. Real wilderness locations dont allow mechanical vehicles.

New York City is like a State of its own, I think if there was a rail system that went to UpState like a monorail system

The people with money have left . When your municipality goes Bankrupt and stops providing services, it’s time to leave .

Utica NY. Near Rome NY. I blame Base Re-Alignment Closure at the end of the Cold War. There are NO Jobs that pay well enough.
