I’m reminded of an article I read in like 2003 or so where intelligence agencies were paying pretty hefty bonuses for native speakers of certain middle eastern languages…key word being native speaker. The FBI is an agency that requires diversity to fulfill its mission.

He aint wrong, I was one of 2 known asians that also spoke native tongue LEO's in Florida decades ago. I could enter any building with a plastic bag of take out and just pretend not to speak english and say "deliver food" and just go inside. I could go anywhere/inside any public space and people would do their illicit act and not even give me a second look.

You also got the advantage of having a village to hire people who can speak multiple languages and have more awareness of different cultural practices between different communities. Which makes it easier to infiltrate different communities.
Even basic level of having people, you can speak, multiple languages and read multiple languages when you may not have time to mess around, trying to translate them into the difference between success and failure.
