One of my favorite little details in this movie is that Ego's lips are cold & blue, until he tastes Remy's cooking, at which point the color begins to return. At the end of the movie, his color palette has changed completely, he is no longer animated in cold pale colors, but in the same colorful flesh tones as the other characters. It is a subtle, but striking visual that shows how much that simple dish affected him, and satisfied something he didnt know he was craving.

As a rat owner, I love this movie. I was actually watching your reaction to this movie while cuddling one of my small fur babies. I love that this movie paints rats in a better light and shows they are intelligent little creatures. The sad part is that rats only live about a year or two (if lucky) in the wild and only two to three in captivity (sometimes more). So realistically speaking Remy wouldn't have much time with Linguini, but I like to head canon that Remy trains Linguini or a younger family member to take his place. Perhaps Linguini and Collette start a rat rescue/sanctuary in Remy's name. A lovely film to view again and a wholesome reaction from you, Maureen. Thank you!

Late to the party, I know. But I have to point out that chefs consistently point to this movie as probably the best film about food ever made. It gets the kitchen right, it gets the food and preparation right, and the moment of Ego's first taste of the ratatouille is what every chef aspires to.

I LOVE SO MUCH THIS MOVIE!
It taught so much life lessons!
My favorite part is the reaction of Anton Ego after eating the ratatouille. It really cheers and touches me. And of course, it's the climax of the movie.

Ratatouille is a masterpiece and the best (for me) movie of Pixar!

Great reaction!
34:17 actually the point of that scene was that she got reminded of Gusto's motto: that anyone can cook, including rats!

This film's quality is especially impressive considering how troubled the production was. Pixar fired the original director and begged Brad Bird, who had just finished The Incredibles, to step in and save the project.
