We interviewed Joseph Chilton Pearce at The Monroe Institute in Favor, Virginia as part of the 40 Days and 40 Nights Video Tour in October 2011. For nearly half a century, Joe has been probing the mysteries of the human mind. Author of The Crack in the Cosmic Egg, Exploring the Crack in the Cosmic Egg, Magical Child, Magical Child Matures, Bond of Power, and Evolution's End, one of his overriding passions remains the study of what he calls the "unfolding" of intelligence in children.
He is a self-avowed iconoclast, unafraid to speak out against the myriad ways in which contemporary American culture fails to nurture the intellectual, emotional, and spiritual needs and yearnings of our young people. Part scholar, part scientist, part mystic, part itinerant teacher, Pearce keeps in close touch with the most brilliant men and women in each field. He creates a unique synthesis of their work and translates the results into a common language.
His most recent book, Death of Religion and the Rebirth of Spirit: A Return to the Intelligence of the Heart (2007), is critically important for where we are now. Our organized religions are stuck in centuries of a particular way of thinking that makes it very difficult to address the changes going on the world of thought today.
Over and over on this tour we met brilliant thinkers and scientists who are making the journey from the intellect to the heart along an unchartered and unmapped path. In our interview, Joe shows us the importance of living from the heart, regardless of what the mind says.

I always had to read each page twice. While I understood it, I had to leave a part of myself open to accept that I would later understand more. It is the most incredible book Invae ever read. It opened a path of life I have been on since I read the very last page… God Bless Joe… 🙏🏾

I met JCP in 1980 while I was living in Palo Alto, Ca. His book " Crack in the Cosmic Egg" was a "great opening" of my self to my "True Self". I became "Self-Realized" and it has been a never ending journey ever since that day.
I have re read his book many times over the past 35 years. It is a classic in the field of transformational literature. It is well worth your time to check it's message out for yourself.

Such deep wisdom from a man who hopes he is not late to welcome his houseguests after the some reason, his talk made me think that our world is ruled by people who have gathered power and control, and who allow only what they want to become "the rules of the heart, wisdom, spirit- they take a back seat to the power hungry, because it is the nature of the heart to allow, not to control.

The famous saint who received the stigmata was, of course, St. Francis of Assisi. The German Catholic nun who received the stigmata was Therese Neumann. Paramahansa Yogananda describes her at length in his "Autobiography of a Yogi". She was actually a member of the Third Order of St. Francis. I also forget names but by using the internet can usually find them within a few moments. My first contact with Mr. Pearce was in the 1980's when radio station KPFK in Los Angeles had a program of spiritual talks that ran from 12 AM to 6 AM on Saturday mornings. Since I had trouble sleeping I lay in my bed with a radio beside my pillow and listened for hours, occasionally drifting off to sleep. I was extremely impressed by Joseph's idea of "imprinting", for I thought it explained the "born again" experience of evangelical Christians.

I've always felt that we are born with everything we need, mentally and spiritually, but we tend to lose a lot of it along the way, as we age and get affected and distracted by the ways of the world, and the systems and structures of mankind..
Another reason why getting back to nature, relaxing and reconnecting with the universe, can be so beneficial and rejuvenating for the soul and spirit..

To me his most extraordinary book is "Exploring the Crack in the Cosmic Egg" in which he describes better than anyone else I'm familiar with the fundamental problem of human beings in the context of culture---how culture, in particular our modern and post-modern cultures---restrict or outright suppress our natural heritage of abilities which are part of our psycho-biological nature.

I love Joseph Chilton's Pearce and am only commenting regarding what Darwin meant by 'survival of the fittest' . Rereading Darwin- Fittest to Darwin meant fittest for the environment in which it exists. He wasn't describing evolution as a succession from crude to refined. Species adaptations are only better than what came before if it is better suited to its current environment. If giraffes lived where trees were only short, to have a long neck would have not benefitted them. If a species benefits from evolving a trait, later their evolution will change if the previous trait becomes a liability. Survival is not so much tooth and claw, but a responsiveness to the lasting situation that affects the group's and individual's survival. Fit means to thrive and successfully bear young to reach reproductive age in existing situation. This is a better understanding of what Darwin meant by fittest.- species adaptations for greater success.

Modern science absolutely does not reject altruism but instead includes it as a product of evolution which is not limited to mankind alone.
