Remove Gas The Easy Way With A Fuel Transfer Pump

This video will show you how easy it is to remove or drain old gas from a gas tank into a gas can, with a handheld Fuel Transfer pump. These pumps are low cost, and can be bought at Harbor Freight, or Home Depot.

Don’t forget to spray a little oil in the top inlet and work it in a few times, the O ring / seal dries up when you use it for gas .

I use it sometimes, but for most engines i clamp off the fuel line before removing and just drain that into a container. For bigger stuff (like right now, without power after hurricane Zeta) i use a $20 fuel pump to remove gas from my classic cars for the generator.

Thanks. Good vid. I have the same pump. Used it once but now it's not working. I pumped it about 20 times and nothing. It's 1 year old. Any suggestions?

can you show how to stop the siphon flow with out spilling any fluid? In my situation I have a 55 gallon drum of chlorine I only needed 4 gallons and the flow would not stop when my jug got full. I pulled the straw out of the barrel and things got a little messy.

Can I use one these pumps to empty a full gas tank of my car (About 30 gallon) that I need to empty, before changing the fuel pump, as I have to drop the gas tank under the car and a full tank, weights a ton! Or is there any better suggestion?
If I am to use this pump, how many times I need to pump to get 1 gallon out?

Those pumps do work good, but remember to clean them after each use. Certainly after use with anything other than water.

If the collecting tank is lower than the supply tank, 3 pumps is all you need and gravity will take over.
