How Much MONEY can you Make?

I have been asked many times in the comments about what kind of a living you can make as an Arborist. Hope this comes close to answering that question. I enjoy my career and there is a lot more to this line of work than just the paycheck. But, I will answer some questions.

That is what intelligence is for. Work to live, dont live to work. Regards from Argentina.

That's something I have really enjoyed -- The annual visits to old customers. It's great to feel trusted and relied upon. I take good care of that. And where I am, the best properties are usually quite woodsy, which is where my heart is. One measure I have used RE "success" is the frequency of gratuities. I don't actually charge much. I just emphasize the good job and all the tree education the client wants. They may then show extra appreciation with a tip. That contributes to my perception of "success". And it builds word-of-mouth.

Good vid. Thank you Blair.

Blair, congratulations with the results and the florishing business, you are an honest and hard working man that really cares for others.

Here in Mexico one should never make a video like this for safety reasons.

Keep on the good work with your informative videos. I always look at the canopies of the trees, the free space they have at ground level... I always wonder where they get their water from.

Best regards from Mexico

"You can make as much money as you want"? To paraphrase Han Solo, "I can want a lot!" :-)

Good video; we need more people with your attitude about doing quality work.

I think there's a big difference from making money as an arborist and making money in the tree cutting business. Many arborists are "consulting" arborists who are hired only for their knowledge and advice. You are hired for that AND to follow through with whatever that advice would lead to. On the other hand, many tree companies don't have a certified arborist within the company. I sure regret not getting certified myself.

Brilliant Glen!
I saw a man who is a soul in profession. Not money (although this is important because even good deeds cost money). I am often suspected that if I was treating a 600-year-old oak, then my fee should be like that of a person from Wall Street.
This is fundamentally wrong. And not because I'm not a certified arborist, but because my business in treating plants and solving problems with their cultivation does not come from my wallet, but from my heart. And the highest award for me was not the recognition of society, but the fact that my son wanted to develop this business as a family business

Honesty will make you the best money in the long run. You're going to have bad bids, and lose, and you're going to, sometimes do so good on successful bids, and acquire other jobs. The main thing to be, is to be truthful with your pricing. Know what it's going to cost you, and give a fair price, period. It will provide paychecks for your entire career, with referrals.

What got you interested in doing this for a living? Its a great job to work outside at different places. you are so passionate about your job. You treat those trees with respect. Most people get on a tree with a chainsaw and start whacking.

If you don't mind me asking, do many of your clients get to know you through this channel?

I've just started cutting down 4 small trees( 20-30ft) for some one and I'm wondering what to charge them. I'm not doing this for the money but more for experience. Could you tell me a fair price for me and the clients. Thanks

It's not how much money you make it's if you enjoy it you never will really work a day in your life.

Hi Blair!

Nice vid. But, money doesn't matter so much. Allways try to do something that keeps you content, thats much more importend. But to be honest: I'm really jealous ;-)

I guess you enjoy working on those properties but wouldn't you want to live on one? "You can make as much as you /want/ to make" Is there some sort of cap to these profits?
