Can't believe this thing came out around 6-7 years ago. Brushless motor, removable chuck, 4 speed gearbox and an electronic clutch?! This monster was way ahead of its time as still today most manufacturers don't offer such a killer combo. Very happy to have placed an order for one!

I own a few Fein-tools, as this was the brand my dad always bought as he wanted his employees to work with the best tools and not with cheap stuff. Some of my Fein-tools date back to the 1960s and they still work. Brushes and ball bearings have been renewed on most of them ever since, for sure.

Made in Germany. That alone is worth the extra price difference compared to a PRC made one.

Back when Hyundai went to change drills last year, we went from Milwaukee to Fein and that is by far the best drill I've ever used. The soft start motors save wrists, but I was surprised at how slow they were clocked. Most likely to extend battery life. The quality of it alone was enough to put it on my shortlist for new power tools (have you ever heard of a Milwaukee cracking the case along the seam?) and this just confirms it. The only real difference between this and the ones we had were the speeds (slower than speed one by a lot, but more consistent as the battery drained.), the beep tone, and of course the drill's casing.

Great review as always!...Fein makes some of the best tools in the world that some have never heard of and they are bullet proof...

Fein isn't even that expensive compared to other brands who's marketing departments keep pushing they are the best. A truly based brand, no marketing markup, pure engineering. First thing that comes to mind is Festool. Another based German brand is Bosch. They spend all their income on R&D and donate the rest to charity.

Thanks for making this review, it really helped me a lot to make my decision. It is an exelent tool (it is in europa way more expensive (370 €) than in the US but worth every cent, no doubt about that) Greetings From Vienna

Wow! FEIN Thee original inventor. Then came Black n Decker and fix it up. Now u could drill with one hand only. Much respect to FEIN and much respect to Black n Decker!

Fein tools appear to be some high quality stuff. For the odd screw or saw cut in the house, it's a bit of overkill looking at the price. I've got a black and decker Matrix system at home that I use even less than I thought I would, and is more handy than I ever thought it would be as well. I love high quality tools though, even obscure stuff that you rarely use is great to have the odd time you need them. Good tools are a pleasure to use. I think growing up without access to proper tools for the job and making due, is at the core of my addiction.

Ugly drill. But If your buying a drill based on looks then there's a problem lol. Always have to love the German quality. 4 speed settings is awesome though. Perfect for a woodworker etc. great review as always.

Really nice tool. I saw Milwaukee's going to release a similar tool in Europe, but they add a angular attachment, and Bosch even a sds Chuck!

Another great review. But I was wondering do you cycle the batteries a couple of times before these reviews? I have noticed at least with my dewalt they lasted longer after they were cycled a few times.

Have you tried the Festool drills? They have independent drill and driver chucks also, as well as a right angle drill.

I would much rather use the drill and impact driver I already have it's much easier to grab a different tool then have to switch ends + impacts are shorter and have more torque

Nice review! This drill looks pretty nice but I have multiple drills and to be honest I would probably continue to use one for drilling and one for screwing.
