Показать описание
The Catena Aurea "The Golden Chain" is a collection of commentaries on the four Gospels by the Church Fathers put together by St. Thomas Aquinas at the request of Pope Urban IV.

St. John Henry Newman was responsible for bringing the Catena to English readers in 1841and Baronius Press has a newly typeset edition not just a simple facsimile.

Available from many online sources

or on Amazon, etc...

It might not be timely, but I'll try to answer any questions I can

Beautiful binding. I first became aware of the CA as inserts in “The Sunday Sermons of the Great Fathers”.

At the time Newman translated this, the phrase The English Bible meant what we now call the King James in America. That makes sense as Newman translated this in 1841, which was four years before his conversion to Catholicism.

I’ve been wanting to have a copy of these books but unfortunately it can’t be delivered here in Qatar.
But still, I’m believing that some way or somehow it will come to me in the right time.

Thank you for sharing this with us. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I'm guessing the 2020 version has all the typos fixed from the the first print Baronius put out (I think it was back in 2013)? Another blogger I follow had complained about too many typos... also: is the extra price worth it or is the PCP version just as good? Great review!

Do you know the text size? Small text kills me! This is why I have held off buying a set of the Summa. The text seems so small on the Summa volumes, this Catena Aurea looks good though.
