One thing that sets John Wick apart from other revenge movies is that John doesn’t say a bold one liner or monologue before he kills Iosef. He just shots him and walks away. That, in my opinion, is an excellent execution of a revenge kill.

1: Death Wish, Both the original movies, and the remake with Bruce Willis.
2: Cold Persuit. Guy's son gets killed by mafia goons. He wages war on the mafia.
3: The Gladiator (1986). Not to be confused with roman stuff. Guy's little brother gets killed by a vigilante who preys on drunk drivers, though the little brother was simply learning to drive and had made a mistake. So, the guy works up some modifications to his truck and goes hunting the other vigilante, while also stopping a number of wreckless drivers, himself.
4: Eye of the Tiger. Basically, Death Wish but with Gary Busey as the protagonist.
5: The Wraith. Guy gets killed by a gang, who kidnaps and brainwashes his girlfriend. Comes back as a vengeful ghost with a supernatural sports car prototype.
6: Rolling Vengeance. Guy's family gets killed by a redneck family who owns the local distillery. Corrupt system won't do anything. He builds a monster truck with an auger on the front to kill said redneck family.
7: Next of Kin. Cop's brother gets killed by the mafia. Cop and kinfolk from Apalacia go hunting for mafia.

Revenge movies are just so satisfying, because you just watch the bad guy win until the end. We all know how it’ll end, but it’s still great entertainment.

Unforgiven gave me legit goosebumps, when he just appears in the saloon full of guys about to hunt him and he’s holding that shotgun, it’s like “oh… yall are f***ed now!”

Definitely Oldboy. This is the most realistic take on revenge revenge is about. That it always leads to tragedy. Two men ruined their lives because of their obsession with revenge. In the end, nothing of what was lost was brought back. Nothing of what was done was undone. In fact, one of them had nothing to live for anymore after everything.
