Amapiano Balcony Mix Live In London with Mpura | S3 | EP 6 | Tribute to Mpura

Last week we spend the whole whole week speaking to Porry and Mpura asking for exclusives for the balcony mix…. Mpura only sent us exclusives on the Friday night but Porry sent on Friday morning… so we used some of the exclusives Porry sent us for the mix.

So sad to think that the last time we spoke to Mpura was on Saturday evening 8pm…. He asked boizens the exclusives… We like we need you to shoot your part for Balcony Mix London….his like we doing from London.. and we like yeah….Khaya will shoot your part in Johannesburg on Monday and his like let’s move boizen. So we shot it and sent everything to Khaya… yesterday morning we were bothering Khaya about getting hold of Mpura to shoot his parts for the mix until we found out Mpura is no more…. 😢💔

Mpura was a guy that just wanted to see everything happen. That’s all he wanted. He had sooooo much to prove and his drive scared us at times. So different and didn’t mind taking on a challenge…

We really want to make this happen for Friday since we were suppose to drop the mix this Friday.

We would like to send our condolences to Mpura, Killer, Voice and Thato families and friends for this tragedy and May God guide us through this dark time. We believe God will make it all make sense to us one day.😞❤️

Wait just a goddamned minute!!! They died?!?! So I’m American, and I discovered Amapiano about 4-5 months ago and it’s pretty much all I’ve listened to since, and as I’m learning the artists and seeing who I liked, Mpura and Killer Kau were two whom I definitely gravitated to.

So tragic because they had so much potential, and you could just tell, so much more in left in them to do, but also they were shaping a genre at its inception, which is a monumental achievement in and of itself. In short, they LIVED in their short time here.

I will take solace in knowing that no one we love ever really dies. They live on in us and speak to us through intuition, inspiration, joy and love, so the love that they gave the world through their music will live on, and it will beget more love and more happiness, and that is invaluable. You cannot put a price tag on that. You cannot put a timeline on that. #RIP fellas, and all the lives lost in this tragic accident which is a loss not just for Amapiano and South Africa, but for the whole musical world. 😢 ❤️ from NYC.

Sir Trill once poignantly characterised Amapiano as "ushuni wey'nkabi, isgubhu esinenkani, " on the song "Izitha". When referring to "isgubhu", he was in part referring to the log drum, that thumping, yet woozy bassline that pervades almost every Amapiano tune. It is the pillar that holds up the Yano structure. It is to Amapiano, what the 808 drum is to Trap.

This is my favorite mix from this channel so far. I'm an American just discovering amapiano and I am enamored by it. I really hope it crosses over into the US 🇺🇸 because it needs to be heard globally. I am legit sad that 2 artists have passed away right when I'm getting into the genre. I am grateful for their work and for other artists to continue creating this beautiful music.
