'Above and Beyond' Paul Lovatt - Cooper, Black Dyke Band, Summer Concert

It was the last concert before the summer break for The Black Dyke Band. The concert was in Holy Trinity Church, a short walk from their headquarters in Queensbury West Yorkshire. Former percussionist and prolific composer Paul Lovett Cooper was commissioned by Duncan Beckley MBE to write Above and Beyond. Duncan conducted this new work before a packed audience on Thursday 18th July 2024.

Back in my young days, I followed Black Dyke Mills band all over the country. The players today are as amazing as they were then. That brought tears to my eyes. Thank you.

Love that huge last chord and how it ends with a heavy BB bass and Bass Trom, such a great effect.
