To think for quite some time the only one beating Feliks Zemdegs' world records was Feliks Zemdegs himself

Felix, back in 2013, was the reason I got into speedcubing. I remember sitting in my 7th grade class and my English teacher showing the class Felix's world record video. I didn't know about speedcubing until that day. My first speedcubing battle was between me and another kid during lunch that 7th grade year. I got 32 seconds, and he got 38 seconds.

Kind of hard to believe the wr went from 22.95 to 3.13

I'm happy about Valk's 5.55 record coz QiYi based a cube size off of that.

I love how Shotaro casually broke the 3x3 wr 4 times in the same competition

Max parks record felt like a dream when I first saw it. But at the same time, it made sense

For me My mind is taken back to Mats 5.55 whenever I think of the WR. I remember 11 year old me in January 2015 in awe watching that solve as it was the WR when I started cubing, and even now whenever I see a solve faster than 5.55 I think about how far the record has come. Crazy to think just how many times that time is broken in 2023 but just 8 years ago there was no solve faster.

Thank you for not mistaking me with Lars Vandenbergh like literally every other world record history video out there :D
(However, it was on August 24th and I believe Dan's record was too)

Waiting on Feliks to pop back up here in the future sometime. He seems like a very persistent person

Till felix vs mats era i had some hopes ....
But now seeing a 9y/o solving in 3sec makes me happy for him but shatter me from inside 😢

Its crazy to see the fact that the record went straight from 3.47 to 3.13

"Any algorithmic set which can be performed by a human must be limited to a couple of hundreds at most thousands of algorithms. These algorithms need to be performed in a fast manner without too much thinking. This puts limits on the amount of time needed to solve the cube. Since the assumption for this estimate will probably be unrealistic for many years to come, I estimate the limit for speed cubing at 10-12 seconds (the average time)."
-Jessica Fridrich, 1997

I find it weird that Dan Knights’ 16.71 is included here but Keaton Ellis’ 5.09 isn’t, despite both being records that were broken later that day

great video nonetheless :)

If I could time travel back to June 5, 1982, I would easily be able to beat the WR

Nice video, you should've added 3x3 "single" to the title, average are important too
