Canon 1DX Mark III Hands-On at CES 2020

Canon has unveiled the EOS 1DX Mark III DSLR, far and away its most advanced flagship camera to date. From the looks of all the technology (previewed earlier this year), it's a pretty strong comeback to criticism of its full-frame mirrorless cameras like the EOS R. It includes features like 16fps mechanical shooting speeds, advanced autofocus tracking, CFexpress card support, 5.5K 60fps video and a lot more.

This is the only video from this years CES I watched twice. That camera is amazing value for those that can utilize it.

A great camera to use for documenting WWIII.

6.5K bucks is really not bad at all. Not much increase from the 1DXII. I was expecting 8K bucks for the body. The people who buy these cameras make their money back in one shoot anyway, so they're gonna be making a lot of money with this body. I just recently sold my 1DX to get ahead of the massive sell-off in preparation for this to arrive. Glad I did. If these specs remain true, and can get rid of the grease splatter on the sensor, I might consider it next year although I'm no pro. You know every sports photog is gonna be rocking one of these at the Olympics.

Question, when you scroll your thumb over the AF-ON button, it changes the point of focus? On the 5D3, it only changes position if you hit the M-Fn button first, which unlocks the capability to switch the AF point. With the 1DX3, you do not unlock the AF position first to then move the point of focus with the new toggle AF? That it is always unlocked and whenever you scroll your thumb over the button it changes position?

Sorry but you got something wrong at first. Not all nikon d series are top of the line flagships. My nikon d3300 is very entry level but still considered a d series. The flagship dslr of nikons are d series with only one number after (D4, D5, etc). Then comes the three digits pro bodies (D850) and so on...

I think a perfect setup would be to get this for paid work and a Fuji xt3 for travel

You’d think someone from Engadget would know the diff between megabits and megabytes per second ... maybe one day.

And you'll need a chiropractor after carrying around all that weight.

$6500 for the latest new old No one is addressing the BIG ELEPHANT in the room that the Canon EF mount is mostly done!!! Sony A9 2 is $4500. The ONLY reason one gets this is if they were already locked in to Canon system as major money earning professional. No new friends (Drake voice)This camera is HUGE. The old fogees who think they need this may develop back problems. Sony menus are motherluvin atrocious.
