I do like the pre-time skip of Death Note better, yes. The cat and mouse game between L and Light was electrifying.

But post-time skip? I actually really like it as well. I like how it shows how the world evolved with Kira at the helm, going from a looming threat to an object of worship. The game here became less of a chase and more of a RTS of amassing followers.

Also, Near and Mello being flawed versions of L that, together, could surpass him, is pretty cool. And I do like that Light lost because of a blunder by someone else, showing the risk he took by not staying quietly in his room writing names slowly and steadily.

I was getting worried when Gintama Shogun Arc was not mentioned but I’m glad it settled on the Final Arc

Death note is an easy pick although the last confrontation in that arc to me is amazing. When light finally loses and realizes he’s been caught.
