General

What is TestAS?
TestAS is an aptitude test for foreign applicants from non-EU countries who want to undertake undergraduate studies at a German university. It assesses cognitive abilities that are particularly important for a successful course of studies. It does not require any specialist knowledge. Neither does it measure any aspects of personality, motivation or interest. The TestAS is available in two different formats: paper-based and digital. Both versions are offered three times a year. You can find out about test dates here.

How is the TestAS structured?
The test consists of different modules:

Core Test: it tests general cognitive abilities which are relevant for university courses.
Subject-specific Tests: they measure abilities particularly relevant for courses of study in specific areas of study.You can choose from four (paper-based TestAS) or six (digital TestAS) subject-specific modules:
Humanities, Cultural Studies and Social Sciences (paper-based and digital TestAS)
Engineering (paper-based and digital TestAS)
Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Sciences (paper-based and digital TestAS)
Economics (paper-based and digital TestAS)
Medicine (digital TestAS)

Registration

How can I register for TestAS?
First you have to register online here. Once you are registered, you will receive a verification mail. You can then book a test date with your user name and password and select the test centre of your choice.

I contacted APS customer service and they told me that TESTAS is not mandatory. As I live in Saudi Arabia there are no centers for test here.
