My 13 year old (who I am making a mini music head through musical exposure) noted today that Jill Scott’s “Blessed” sounded like this beautiful Dorothy Ashby track. Nothing makes me more proud than to pass on the enjoyment of music and having an ear for sound.

After over 20+ years on my wants list I finally have found a clean beautiful original copy of this phenomenal record for the best price too. I can’t believe my luck. I have hundreds of fav records in collection, but this is truly a very special one indeed. A superb recording with the finest arrangements by Richard Evans. And, yes a super rare and collectible album and a must have for all serious jazz collectors

Phenomenal. You can hear pain in Ashby's playing. It speaks for itself and expresses a desire, a yearning of sorts, for a reality which may or may not ever occur. The title itself can only tell us so much, but this song, to me, is about entering someone's life, learning their stories, fears, traumas, and living with them in absolute acceptance and love.
