The claws actually exist for relation with the Bubbles that others have already mentioned. They use those claws for traction and pivoting when bubble sliding around their prey/hunters at high speed. the paintbrush esque tail and the fur tuft on the chest is where the bubble soap is generated from. so that half ring is an effect part for a sweeping motion with the tail.

Fun fact mizutsune are part of the leviathan Species and the most beautiful and detail mizutsune are usually male and its mostly a fish eater. As for the bubble stand, they are known to form bubbles around their body and tail as they could use the bubbles against the hunter for slip and slide as well

There’s something about the face that doesn’t quite do it for me, but it’s still a very pretty figure.

And, your pronunciations are on point, but Mizutsune usually keep all their paws on the ground, but I think they only ever rear up on their hind legs to pounce but not to walk bipeds.

the hind leg cannot swivel front and back, the torso pop off and the countless fins (hoped they are in soft plastic like they made for the tail fin)

some parts I directly super glued it as I see it does not provide any movement despite it is ball jointed

and yeah, compared to other monsterarts it looks a bit smaller, especially compared to zinogre and nargacuga (and not longer as well), hopefully the next in line is larger a bit like zinogre or rathalos

I have that same Godzilla, if you try posing him in a swimming position you might have some fun with it--the neck and tail get a chance to move in a way that they don't when just standing.

If this was a bit larger I'd probably get it to go with my 1/12 scale fantasy figures given how pretty it is. Still tempted to get it despite it being perhaps a little small, it looks a bit like an over large dog in the photo against the ML knight (fantastic photo) rather than a big threatening monster. Having said that if I came up against a lizard looking like that that was half the size of a horse I would still leg it in the opposite direction with no shame.

I will say I agree with the fragility of the figure but another thing I'm not a fan of is the lack of poseability with the forearms in particular. The lack of downward wrist movement, complete elbow bending and complete lack of movement at the shoulder/scapula makes more dynamic poses a bit awkward with this figure. Which sucks because Mizutsune/Tamamitsune is a monster known for very dynamic acrobatics (a lot of its movements are very evocative of snakes & foxes, which...fair, it is the snake-fox bubble dragon); having it's front limbs sort of stuck without being able to have them move with the rest of the beast kind of takes away from what you can do.

Also, you should pick up Monster Hunter Rise. I also had been waiting to get into the series properly (beyond some demos on 3DS) for a while and Rise is a great starting point as it's easier for newer players to get into the series. Also the theme is based off the "100 Demon Night Parade" so yokai fans got to eat good this installment.
