The nationalised railways were relatively cheap and efficient up to the end of the 1950's. Thereafter successive governments were convinced that road transport was the future for goods and the travelling public. As a result billions of pounds were diverted from British Rail investment to the building and maintenance of our ever expanding motorway network, which struggles to cope with the volume of traffic, whilst the only efficient service the private rail companies provide is massive profits for shareholders and obscene salaries and bonuses for their Directors.

Railways were privatised because back when they were nationalised previously the railways were an absolute disaster. Constant strikes extremely poor service and unions doing whatever they wanted to the detriment of the public.

Who is supplying the boats and outboard motors? Why is this not being investigated so that the perpetrators can be prosecuted.
